Eid-ul-Fitr

EID-UL-FITR is celebrated on the first day of Shaw'waal, at the completion of Ramadan. Shaw'waal is the 10th month of the Islamic calendar. The Eid-al-Fitr is a very joyous day; it is a true Thanksgiving Day for the believing men and women. On this day Muslims show their real joy for the health, strength and the opportunities of life, which Allah has given to them to fulfill their obligation of fasting and other good deeds during the blessed month of Ramadan.
Sunnah of Eid
  • Wake up early.
  • Prepare for personal cleanliness, take care of details of clothing, etc.
  • Take a Ghusl (bath) after Fajr.
  • Brush your teeth.
  • Dress up, putting on best clothes available, whether new or cleaned old ones.
  • Use perfume (men only).
  • Have breakfast on Eid-al-Fitr before leaving for prayer ground. On    Eid-al-Adha, eat breakfast after Salaat or after sacrifice if you are    doing a sacrifice.
  • Pay Zakaat-al-Fitr before Salaat-al-Eid (on Eid-al-Fitr).
  • Go to prayer ground early.
  • Offer Salaat-al-Eid in congregation in an open place except when whether is not permitting like rain, snow, etc.
  • Use two separate route to and from the prayer ground.
  • Recite the following Takbir on the way to Salaat and until the beginning of Salaat-al-Eid:
Allaho-Akber, Allaho-Akber. La ila-ha ill-lal-lah. Allaho-Akber, Allaho-Akber. Wa-lilahill hamd.

(Allah is great, Allah is great. There is no god but Allah. Allah is great, Allah is great. And all praises are for Allah).

How to offer Eid prayer:

Ibn Abbass (ra) reported: " I participated in the Eid-ul-Fitr prayer with the Messenger of Allah (saw), Abu Bakr (ra), Umar (ra) and Uthman (ra), and all of them held Eid prayer before Khutbah, and then the Prophet Muhammad (saw) delivered the Khutbah (sermon)." (Muslim )
Who should go to the prayer ground & offer Eid Prayer:

Umm Atiyah (ra) reported: "The Messenger of Allah (saw) commanded us to bring out on Eid-al-Fitr and Eid-al-Adha, young women, hijab-observing adult women and the menstruating women. The menstruating women stayed out of actual Salaat but participated in good deeds and Duaa (supplication). I (Umm Atiyah) said to the Holy Prophet (saw): Oh! Messenger of Allah, one does not have an outer garment. He replied: Let her sister cover her with her garment."
                                                                              ( Muslim )

On the Eid day, every believing man, woman and child must go to the prayer ground and participate in this joyous occasion.

Structure of Eid prayer:

Eid prayer is wajib (strongly recommended, just short of obligatory). It consists of two Rakaat (units) with six or thirteen additional Takbirs. It must be offered in congregation. The prayer is followed by the Khutbah.
The Khutbah is part of the worship and listening to it is Sunnah. During the Khutbah, the Imam must remind the community about its responsibilities and obligations towards Allah, fellow Muslims and the fellow human beings. The Imam must encourage the Muslims to do good and ward off evil. The Muslim community must also be directed to the state of the community and the Ummah at large and the feelings of sacrifice and Jihaad should be aroused in the community. At the conclusion of the prayer the Muslims should convey greetings to each other, give reasonable gifts to the youngsters and visit each other at their homes. Muslims should also take this opportunity to invite their non-Muslims neighbors, co-workers, classmates and business acquaintances to Eid festivities to expose them to Islam and Muslim culture.

May the Guidance and Blessings of Allah(SWT) be with you and your family!!!

Eid-ul-Fitr Mubarak

Respect and appreciate your Mother

  • And We have enjoined on man doing of good to his parents; with trouble did his mother bear him and with trouble did she bring him forth; and the bearing of him and the weaning of him was thirty months; until when he attains his maturity and reaches forty years, he says: My Lord! grant me that I may give thanks for Thy favor which Thou hast bestowed on me and on my parents, and that I may do good which pleases Thee and do good to me in respect of my offspring; surely I turn to Thee, and surely I am of those who submit.
    Qur'an 46(Al-Ahkaf 15)

  • A man came to the Prophet Muhammad(صلى الله عليه وسلم)  and said, "O Messenger of Allah! Who is most deserving of my fine treatment? The Prophet said: Your mother. The man said, ‘Then who?’ The Prophet said: Then your mother. The man further asked, ‘Then who?’ The Prophet said: Then your mother. The man asked again, ‘Then who?’ The Prophet said: Then your father. (Bukhari, Muslim).
  • It is narrated by Asma bint Abu Bakr that during the treaty of Hudaibiyah, her mother, who was then pagan, came to see her from Makkah. Asma informed the Messenger of Allah of her arrival and also that she needed help. He said: Be good to your mother (Bukhari, Muslim)

  • Action Plan

1. Make dua for your mother.
Read this dua often for both parents
[17:24] And lower for them the wings of humility, and kindness, and say, “My Lord, have mercy on them, for they have raised me from infancy.”
2. Give her some time off from her daily chores. Help her as much as possible.
3. Get to know you mother. Tell her to tell you about her self. Listen to her.
4. Call your mothers daily and try and visit her as much as you can.
5. Take your mom out on a date, just the two of you so you can spend some quality time with her.
6. If your relationship with your mother is estranged, mend it before it is to late.
7.Always remember your mother in law is your husband’s mother. Treat her with love and respect.
8. Find out what your mother’s interests and support and share in her experiences.
9. Give her a big hug and kiss on the forehead.
10. If she hasn’t been, take her for Hajj or send her on a well deserved all expenses paid holiday.
11. If you mother has passed away -- visit her relatives and friends and ask what you can do for them. Give sadaqah jaariya on her behalf, plant a tree, donate a water well, donate towards a masjid, educate an orphan etc.
Consider these two Hadiths (sayings of the Prophet Muhammad peace and blessings be upon him):

• The Messenger of Allah said: When a person dies, his actions come to an end, except for three things: a continuing Sadaqa (charity), knowledge from which benefit is still being derived, and a righteous child who prays for her or him (translated meaning from Muslim).

• Abu Usaid Saidi said: We were once sitting with Rasulullah(صلى الله عليه وسلم)  when a man from the tribe of Salmah came and said to him: O Messenger of Allah! do my parents have rights over me even after they have died? And Rasulullah said: Yes. You must pray to Allah to bless them with His Forgiveness and Mercy, fulfill the promises they made to anyone, and respect their relations and their friends (Abu Dawud and Ibn Majah).

  • Anas ibn Malik(radiyallaahu'anhu) said, "A woman came to 'A'isha(radiyallaahu'anha) and 'A'isha gave her three dates. She gave each of her two children a date and kept one date for herself. The children ate the two dates and then looked at their mother. She took her date and split in it two and gave each child half of it. The Prophet Muhammad(sallallaahu alayhi wa sallam) came and 'A'isha told him about it. Then Muhammad(sallallaahu alayhi wa salam) said, 'Are you surprised at that? Allah will show her mercy because of her mercy towards her child." [ Al-Bukhari; Adab Al-Mufrad, V #49 #89]
It's dedicated to all Mothers in the World.... May Allah bless and protect all Mothers, and give His Mercy upon them because of their mercy toward their children!
Aameen... Love you Mother

Guidance of the Prophet Muhammad(SAW) on Fasting

بـــــــــــــــــــســم الله الرحمن الرحــيــــــــــــــــم

All praise is due to Allah. May  He  bestow  His  peace  and blessings  upon  His Prophet, his relatives, companions and those  who are  loyal  to him.

Ibn al Qayim  mentioned that: 'Among the guidance of the Prophet( صلى الله عليه و سلم ) in the month of Ramadan was his engagement in many forms  of worship. The angel  Gabriel used to teach him the Quran in this  month. Whenever Gabriel met him he was more generous than  a guided  breeze. He was, ordinarily, the most charitable person, and  yet when  Ramadan arrived he  became   even  more  generous. He gave  much charity and  engaged  in kind  acts,  recitation of the Quran, prayers, remembrance and  retreat during this  month.'

He used to apportion  to Ramadan a degree of worship that was not set aside to any other  month. Sometimes he actually used to continue into the night. The Prophet( صلى الله عليه و سلم) , however, forbade his companions  from doing so. When they pointed out to him that he continued he responded saying:
'My body is not like yours, I dwell with my Lord, He feeds me and gives me drink' (Bukhari and Muslim).
Accordingly, Allah  Almighty used  to  nourish His Prophet during those  periods of extended fasts with subtle  knowledge, and  abounding wisdom and  light of the message.  Of course, it was not food  and drink  in the literal sense,  for if this were so the Prophet would  not  be consid ered  fasting.

When the Prophet( صلى الله عليه و سلم ) became satisfied from the worship of  his creator, and  his heart opened up to his aim,  and  his mind  rested  with  the  remembrance of his Master, and  his condition  improved by  his  closeness to  His  Lord,  he forgot all food  and  drink. As it was said: spiritual power is  in  the  essence  of souls, it is not  dependent on  food  or drink. Nothing can  harm   you,  if you  have  attained  the knowledge of your  Lord.

The  Prophet Muhammad ( صلى الله عليه و سلم  ) was  the  best of  those  who remembered and  worshipped Allah.  As for  the  month  of Ramadan, it  was  made  to  be a season  of  worship and  a time for remembrance and recitation. His nights were spent in supplication and humiliation unto  his Lord,  seeking  His help,  support, victory  and  guidance. He  read  long  chapters  of the  Quran and  stayed  for  long  periods bowing  (in ruku') and  prostrating himself  before  Him.  Such  was  the desire  that  was  never  satisfied with  worship,  making his standing in the night  a source  of sustenance and supply  as well as  power  and  energy.  Allah  Almighty says:
'O Thou enwrapped one! Keep awake [in prayer] at night, all but a small  part' (73:1).

'And  rise from  thy sleep  and  pray  during part  of the night [as  well],  as  a free  offering from  thee,  and  thy  Sustainer may well raise thee to a glorious station [in the life to come]' (17:79).

During the days of the fasting month, the Prophet  صلى الله عليه و سلم spent his time in propagating the Islamic call, engaging in jihad, providing advice and  training,  and  reminding  his companions. Among his practices  was  that  the  Prophet   صلى الله عليه و سلم never commenced  the fast  of  Ramadan except  with  a  vision  of  what  was  to  be achieved. He used to encourage  his companions to partake  of a meal before daybreak. Indeed, it was confirmed that he said:

'Have  the meal  before daybreak, because there  is blessing in it.'
The period before daybreak  is considered  blessed because it is in the last third of the night, the time of divine descent and forgiveness. Allah says:
'And  in the hours of early dawn,  they were found praying for forgiveness' (51:18).

He also says: '
Those who show  patience, firmness and self control; who  are  true  (in  word   and  deed);  who  worship devoutly; who spend  in the way of Allah; and  who  pray for forgiveness in the early  hours of the morning' (3:17).

Still besides,  the meal before  daybreak helps  the individual in his fast and  worship. It is, therefore, a payment for  the bounty  of worship that  Allah  has bestowed upon  us.

It was also established  that the Prophet Muhammad( صلى الله عليه و سلم ) used to hasten to  have  a  meal  after  the  setting  of  the  sun.  He,  likewise, ordered  his companions to do the same. Usually he had dates or  water  because something sweet  was  most  agreeable  for an  empty  stomach. Several  sources  have  narrated that  the Prophet   (صلى الله عليه و سلم )said:
'Verily the fasting  person  has a prayer  that will never be rejected.'
Thus,  he used to pray for the good  of this world and the hereafter. He broke his fast before praying Salaat  ul  Maghreb  (the  evening  prayer). In  one  authentic hadith  he said: 'If the night  enters  from  here and  slips away from  there, then  the faster  should end  his fast.'
The  Prophet Muhammad ( صلى الله عليه و سلم ) travelled   during   Ramadan, fasting  and  then  breaking  his fast.  In  this  regard,  he gave the companions the choice of fasting or not while travelling. During battle, however,   he  ordered  them  to break  their fasts, to  enable   them  to  fight.  Here  it  would   be recalled that  the Great  Battle of Badr was fought during the month of  Ramadan. Then, Allah  gave  the Muslims a victory  that has known no parallel  since.  Yet, the Prophet ( صلى الله عليه و سلم) broke  his fast  in two  of his battles  according to narrations by Umar ibn  al Khattab and  collected by AI Tirmidhi and  Ahmad . The  Prophet(  صلى الله عليه و سلم ) did  not,  however,  specify  the  distance after which  the fast  should be broken. There  are  in fact  no authentic accounts to prove  this.

There  were, observedly, times when   the   morning prayer,  al Fajr, came  and  the Prophet was still in a state  of impurity following sexual  intercourse. He would, in those circumstances, perform the ritual  bath  and  thereafter fast. In a related matter, he used to kiss some  of his wives while he was  fasting in Ramadan. He compared the  kiss of the fasting person  to the washing of the mouth.

On another  level, the Prophet  Muhammad( صلى الله عليه و سلم) ruled that the person who  broke his fast through  a genuine act of forgetfulness was not required to make up that day's fast. He pointed out that it was Allah Almighty who had fed and given drink to that person. We have learnt from the prophetic  traditions  also that the things which invalidate one's fast are: eating, drinking, cupping, and vomiting. The Noble Quran  explains that sexual intercourse nullifies fasting  in the same  way that  eating and drinking does.

Among  his  practices also  was  that  of retreat and  seclusion  during the last  ten days  of Ramadan. The  Prophet( صلى الله عليه و سلم ) did this in order  to attune his heart  ever more with Allah and  to free  his mind  from  the concerns of the  world. The gaze of his heart thus became entirely focused in the heavens.

During this  time,  he limited  his contacts with  people  and intensified his supplication and  prayers to Allah,  the Lord of  all  Majesty and  Glory.  His  heart, therefore, indulged purely  in the contemplation of Allah's attributes and  qualities.  It  reflected  upon  His  clear signs   in  the   universe and  of Allah's  creation in the  heavens and  the earth. With all this in mind, it would  be very difficult to determine how much  knowledge Prophet ( صلى الله عليه و سلم ) acquired, or  how  much  light was  revealed  to him,  or how  many  realities were  exposed to  him.  He  was,  without doubt, the  most  knowledgeable person  about Allah,  the  most  fearful of Him,  and  the one who  trusted and  depended upon  Him  the most. Indeed, he was  the  most  pious  of all  men  and  sacrificed himself  the most for the sake  of Allah! May  the peace and  blessings  of Allah  be upon  him.

لا إله إلا الله محمد رسول الله

بـــــــــــــــــــســم الله الرحمن الرحــيــــــــــــــــم

لا إله إلا الله محمد رسول الله

"There is no god only
Allãh, Muhammad is the Rasool (Messenger) of Allãh" is also known as Kalima Tayyab. Kalima Tayyab is the testification of faith in Islam. A person cannot be considered to be a Muslim if he/she does not believe in the words of this Kalima. To become a Muslim, a person must say this Kalima with total belief. Another point about this Kalima is the name given to it, which is Tayyab. Tayyab means Purity. By uttering this Kalima a person is purified from disbelief. An impure person becomes pure. This purification is spiritual.
The Messenger Muhammad(صلى الله عليه وسلم) of Allãh added, "There will come out of Hell (Fire) everyone who says: 'La ilaha ill Allãh,' and has in his heart good equal to the weight of a barley grain. Then there will come out of Hell (Fire) everyone who says: ' La ilaha ill Allãh,' and has in his heart good equal to the weight of a wheat grain. Then there will come out of Hell (Fire) everyone who says: 'La ilaha ill Allãh,' and has in his heart good equal to the weight of an atom (or a smallest ant)."
When the death of Abu Talib approached, the Messenger of Allãh came to him and said, "Say: La ilaha ill Allãh, a word with which I will be able to defend you before Allãh."
[Sahih Al Bukhari]
THE MEANING OF: لا إله إلا الله

Let us start by looking at the literal translation of the words لا إله إلا الله

لا means NO
إله means GOD
إلا means ONLY or BUT
الله means ALLÃH

Most of the Muslims even today substitute the word GOD for the Name
Allãh. They go so far as translating the words لا إله إلا الله to mean ‘There is no god but God’. This latter translation is incorrect. IT DOES NOT MAKE SENSE! Is Allãh a God? No! Is the short and simple answer. Allãh is not a God with a capital ‘G’ or little ‘g’. The first Kalima(Testification) says clearly لا إله (NO GOD!) إلا الله (Only Allãh). The biggest misunderstanding has started from the Translations of the Holy Qur’an. The translators freely substituted the word GOD where ever the name Allãh is mentioned. It is, as if they are apologizing on Allãh's behalf and, in their minds, correcting the words of the Holy Qur’an. To compound the problem, the translators use outdated English which is neither spoken nor read by the majority of the population. It is this misrepresentation that has caused the confusion. Today so many Muslims who do not understand Arabic believe Allãh and God is one and the same because they can only understand the (incorrect) English translation. This is a major downfall. Have you ever really considered why the Kalima started with a Negative word NO followed by GOD? It was to stop the people worshipping gods in the form of statues or in the form of pictures, or in the form of mental images. It was to stop people worshipping a god or gods sitting on a throne. If Allãh is a god then the Kalima might have started with YES there is a God, or Allãh is the only God, but it does not. The Kalima starts with NO god.

The name
Allãh cannot be converted to the English word God. Allãh is infinite, which means Allãh has no boundaries. Allãh has no centre. Allãh has no inside and no outside. If Allãh had boundaries then that would limit Allãh.

We are told in Al Qur'an:

وَلِلّهِ الْمَشْرِقُ وَالْمَغْرِبُ فَأَيْنَمَا تُوَلُّواْ فَثَمَّ وَجْهُ اللّهِ إِنَّ اللّهَ وَاسِعٌ عَلِيمٌ
“To Allãh belong the east and the West: Whithersoever ye turn; there is the presence of Allãh. For Allãh is all-Pervading, all-Knowing.”
If Allãh was a god then we would not see his face everywhere. He would be limited by form or shape. He would be limited by time and place. Allãh has no form or shape because with form and shape there is an outline that forms the shape or boundary. We are informed about this in the Al Qur’an:

اللَّهُ الصَّمَدُ
 “Allãh, the Eternal, Absolute.”
[Al Qur’an, Al Iqlaas’ 2]
Which means Allãh is not limited by time, place or circumstance. Some readers may say that Allãh is referred to as God in the Al Qur’an. This is true. An example of this is given here:

“Those who reject Faith, and die rejecting,- on them is Allãh's curse, and the curse of angels, and of all mankind;
They will abide therein: Their penalty will not be lightened, nor will respite be their (lot).
And your Allãh is One Allãh: There is no god but He, Most Gracious, Most Merciful.”
[Al Qur’an, Al Bakharah’ 161-163]

In verse 163, the word God (إله ) is used to describe Allãh (Your God is One God), but notice the context in which it is used. Allãh is addressing the NON-MUSLIMS. After telling the disbelievers of the fate that awaits them, Allãh informs them that their God is one God WA ILAHUKUM ILAHUN WAHID because they are only familiar with the concept of god. Allãh tells the non-Muslims using the terminology that the non-Muslims are familiar with, which is god. Immediately following that in the same verse we are told لا إله إلا الله. There is no god only He the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful which is addressed to the Muslims. So the last part of verse 163 of Surah Baqarah is addressed to the Muslims who should not interchange the Name Allãh with the word god. You will find the word إله 'God' is used throughout the Holy Qur’an whenever the verses are addressed to the Non-Muslims.
Again we are told in the Holy Qur’an that there is no god with little 'g' or capital 'G'. So who is Allãh? Muhammad(صلى الله عليه وسلم) the Messenger of Allãh and all the great Muslim saints (RA) from the past to present have said no one should contemplate on the essence of Allãh because in doing that, a person will fall into error. But we must reflect on Allãh's attributes or qualities in order to attain nearness to Him.

His Name is
Allãh, and his attributes or qualities are Ar Rahman (The Most Gracious), Ar Raheem (The Most Merciful), Al Malik (The Sovereign), Al Quddus (The Holy One), As Salaam (The Source of Peace), Al Mu_min (The Guardian of Faith), Al Muhaiymin (The Preserver of Safety), Al Azeez (The Exalted in Might), Al Jabbar (The Irresistible), Al Mutakabir (The Supreme) and all the other qualities mentioned in the Holy Qur’an.

I found in one translation of "Al Futhu Rabbani", the translator had freely used the word God when Referring to
Allãh. I could not find the NAME Allãh anywhere in the entire book. I wrote and pointed this out to the translator. He replied, "The word GOD is mentioned in the Webster's Dictionary. It is derived from the Indian word Ghauss meaning Savior."

The Muslims use the word Ghauss for the person who is the Chief of the Walees(saints). The Shaikh of the Shaikhs. The Christians use the word Savior for Isa (Jesus (PBUH)). It is sad to find that these people, who translate the Holy Qur’an and the works of prominent saints, use the word 'God' wherever they come across the Name '
Allãh'. Countless people read these translations. The readers are brain washed into believing that 'Allãh' is 'God'. Is it any surprise the Muslims are suffering in this day and age, when people who have impact (that is the translators) on the lives of other people are ashamed to use the Name Allãh from the Holy Qur’an which is the word of Allãh. They would rather use the word 'God' from a Dictionary written by men.

In this day and age, the entire population of the earth is aware of the religion of Islam. They are also aware, that those who practice and follow Islam are called Muslims and not Mohammadans. By the same reasoning, the entire population of the earth is aware of the Name
Allãh. Now it must be made clear to everyone including the ignorant Muslims (through no fault of their own), that the Muslims serve Allãh, they do not worship any God.

In conclusion
Allãh is not a god. There is no god only Allãh. Allãh is the proper name of our Creator. Allãh is infinite, because where ever we turn there is the Face of Allãh. There are some Muslims who will argue that Allãh is not everywhere. After providing the proof from the Holy Qur’an (Chapter 2 verse 115) if they still dispute that Allãh is not everywhere then they have rejected the Word of Allãh. Only Allãh Knows Best!
THE MEANING OF: محمد رسول الله

Now let us look at the second part of Kalima Tayyab starting again with the literal translation of the words
محمد رسول الله

محمد means MUHAMMAD
رسول means RASOOL (Loosely translated to MESSENGER) of
الله means ALLÃH

Every Muslim will translate
محمد رسول الله to mean Muhammad is the Messenger of Allãh.

There are no problems here, except in comprehension. Some Muslims do not even realize what they are uttering. They are not paying attention to the words of the Kalima. They are veiled from the meaning of the Kalima.

When Hadrat Adam (PBUH) was sent from heaven to earth for eating the forbidden fruit he repented for 330 years. Then
Allãh gave Adam (PBUH) guidance and he remembered The Kalima he had seen inscribed in heaven.
لا إله إلا الله محمد رسول الله

When Adam (PBUH) recited the Kalima,
Allãh accepted his prayer and forgave Adam (AS). Even Adam (AS) had to say:

"There is no god only
Allãh, Muhammad is the Rasool (Messenger) of Allãh!"
